The Plains Rotarians, through a generous gift from Robert K. Mericle, Discover NEPA Powered by Mericle, has established this endowment in recognition of Lew’s enthusiasm for service and charity. Lew had a distinguished career as a real estate attorney, working for the law firms Aiken Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Washington, D.C., and Rosen, Jenkins & Greenwald, Wilkes-Barre. Most recently, Lew was the chief operating officer and general counsel of Mericle Commercial Real Estate for over 20 years.
Guided by his strong sense of honor, integrity and generosity, Lew served in the United States Marine Corps and volunteered with various community organizations and charitable endeavors, including the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and Luzerne County Bar Association. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains Twp., and a regular volunteer and contributor to Toys for Tots, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make A Wish Foundation and Candy’s Place Cancer Wellness Center. His wisdom was unparalleled and his thoughtfulness, patience and selflessness made him the ultimate teacher, mentor and role model to his children.
