Our father,
Patrick Shotwell Sr., was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer in October 2017. Patrick was a devoted husband to his wife Debbie, loving father to his three children, and adoring Papa to six grandsons. Unfortunately, like too many others diagnosed with this horrific disease, the patriarch of our family earned his angel wings in February of 2019, fighting for 17 well fought months. Patrick was a self-employed businessman in Duryea, known for his kind nature, willingness to help anyone in need, honesty and integrity, and strength and courageousness. A promise we made to our father before he passed away is that we would continue his fight. We would support and create fundraising initiatives in hopes that other families would not have to suffer the pain and loss that we did. To honor him and continue his legacy of selfless giving we have created the
Pat Shotwell’s Faith Over Fear Fund-Finishing His Fight through the help of the Luzerne Foundation. Pancreatic cancer is the 3
rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States surpassing breast cancer. It is expected to become the 2
nd leading cause of cancer-related death in the US by the year 2020, surpassing colorectal cancer. Pennsylvania is the 5th leading state in deaths as a result of pancreatic cancer following CA, FL, TX, and NY.
