This was established as a means to preserve the trust intents originally established by the Pittston Lions Club in 1966. Because of a myriad of circumstances, Trustees proposed to distribute the trust to the Luzerne Foundation naming Lou Goeringer as custodian. Lou chose to establish within the Luzerne Foundation the Lou Goeringer Family Fund for the Blind and Visually Impaired to assist those recognized charitable organizations, programs and services for those individuals residing in Luzerne County and Northeastern Pennsylvania who are blind or visually impaired.
