Mr. Bill O’Boyle has dedicated more than 35 years to the newspaper industry, consistently serving the community with integrity and passion. Bill’s work, most recently with the Times Leader since 2007, and previously with The Citizens Voice, The Sunday Independent, and Wyoming Valley Observer, has always gone beyond just reporting the news. He has been a voice for those in need, highlighting the efforts of community nonprofits and charities, and inspiring countless individuals to give back where they can.![]()

In addition to journalism, O'Boyle is passionate about volunteering and serving his community. He has dedicated much of his life to supporting individuals with physical or intellectual challenges through organizations like Challenger and Victory. His volunteer efforts span a variety of causes, including over 20 years with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, fundraising for a children's cancer hospital in Warsaw, Poland, and supporting the John Heinz Institute for Pediatric Patients. He has also been deeply involved in youth sports, serving with Teeners’ League Baseball and Wyoming Valley American Legion Baseball for over 30 years. Additionally, O’Boyle contributed to Leadership Wilkes-Barre, helped launch Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre, and led several local initiatives such as the Book Kids Program and the Riverside Rumble wheelchair race. His leadership extends to roles with the Ethics Institute of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.![]()

Bill will be inducted into the Door Opener Society during The Luzerne Foundation's mid-winter gathering for The Rusty Flack Society on Thursday, February 13th at the Westmoreland Club.
