The “Work Like J.I.M.” Scholarship was created by the family of James I. McLain. Jim was a lifelong resident of Moscow, Pennsylvania, attending North Pocono schools through his junior year of high school. He graduated in 1968 from Lake Consolidated High School in Lake Ariel. Immediately following graduation, Jim joined the United States Marine Corp. and served a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. Not long after returning home Jim found his passion and pursued a lifelong career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.

In the 1980’s Jim served a stint with the Naval Construction Battalion Reserve Unit (aka SeaBees) further honing his equipment skills and cementing his work ethics of accuracy, diligence, preparedness, reliability and teamwork. Whether you were his employer, family, friend or even a stranger, you could count on Jim.

This scholarship memorializes Jim’s tremendous work ethic in the hope it encourages others to simply “Work Like J.I.M”.
