What is the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)?
The EITC program is a mechanism to allow companies to support innovative educational programs in exchange for a reduction in state tax. Through EITC, eligible Pennsylvania companies can receive tax credits equal to 75 percent of their contribution (up to $750,000 per taxable year), or up to 90 percent for two-year charitable commitments. For more information, please visit dced.pa.gov.
At The Luzerne Foundation, we believe in the power of philanthropy to shape a brighter future for Northeastern Pennsylvania. Through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC), The Luzerne Foundation is an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO). Through EITC, eligible Pennsylvania companies can contribute to The Luzerne Foundation to support local K-12 students participating in programs like:
STEM Explorers
STEM Explorers is an after-school advanced learning program designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning in students through a Virtual Reality (VR) experience. This program makes STEM subjects accessible, engaging, and fun, encouraging students to explore, innovate, and discover the world around them. Virtual Reality (VR) Experiences: Use VR to take virtual field trips to space, underwater, or inside the human body. These immersive experiences allow students to explore environments that are otherwise inaccessible, enhancing their understanding of complex concepts. For example, a trip to the International Space Station can teach gravity and space science, while an underwater adventure can explore marine biology and ecosystems.
Secondary Transition Dual Credit Program
Secondary Transition Dual Credit Program assists students in preparing for adult life after they leave high school, allowing high school students to take college-level, credit-bearing courses offered by institutions of higher education and to receive credit from secondary and post-secondary school. The following Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) programs often require additional post-secondary training: Early Childhood Education, Health Careers, Emerging Health, Criminal Justice, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Marketing and Business Administration, and Computer Information Systems. As many CTE programs of study require additional post-secondary training after high school to work in the industry, the opportunity to participate in dual credit program will enable students to experience post-secondary success, enhance equity in education and give STC students a competitive edge as they enter college or trade school.
